Building thermal resilience affects occupant safety during extreme heat or cold events, which can coincide with power outages. The effects of climate change are leading to more frequent and intense extreme weather events, which increases hazard risk. This seminar presents outcomes from several recent research projects focusing on resilience metrics, modeling framework, technologies to improve thermal resilience and policy implications. Challenges and opportunities in thermal resilience research are also discussed.
